How Can Damascus Road Help Me Grow?

God is real, He created you and He cares about you very much. He wants to communicate how much you matter to Him and what His plan is for your life. One of the ways He communicates that to you is through the Bible-based teaching that you’ll hear at a church like ours as well as the worship experience and interactions with others on the same spiritual journey as yourself.

Each week there are hundreds of people in our auditorium looking for answers to life’s deepest questions and seeking wisdom and encouragement from God’s word. Each week hundreds are here seeking to develop authentic friendships with one another through a group and looking for ways to serve the community and world around us.

We invite you to come and just give it a try. To find out more about us attend a class.  As the Bible says in Psalm 34:8 – “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”

What Can I Expect?

On Sunday morning when you pull into the parking lot and walk into Oakdale High School, you will be joining several hundred others who are making their way to the auditorium.

You’ll notice the dress is casual.

You’ll notice there are lots of little kids running around… (we have awesome kids' programs!)

As you walk into the lobby greeters will be there to assist you with any questions you might have.

As you enter the auditorium you’ll notice a live band on the stage playing  upbeat and contemporary- sounding music.

You’ll notice the words to the songs are projected on screens for people in the congregation to sing along with the band in expressing their hearts to God.

After about 25 minutes of singing we speak to the congregation about special upcoming events. Sometimes there is a drama, a song from the band, or a video clip and then the message time begins.

The pastor will teach from the Bible on the day’s topic. When it's all done you pick up your kids, stop for refreshments in the cafeteria if you'd like before heading home or stay for lunch at a nearby restaurant. With all the people around it is easy to check things out and stay as anonymous as you would like.

Will I be singled out in any way as a visitor?

At Damascus Road, you'll never be put on the spot, never feel forced to give money and never embarrassed. You won't be asked to participate in the offering. You don't have to sign anything or register your attendance in any way (unless you place your child in our children's ministry - and then only for your child's security). Let the service be a gift to you.

What about special needs individuals?

We have an active, engaging, and unique special needs/disability ministry called "Haven" that welcomes families and friends of all ages.  You’ll see our Haven sign (our supportive ministry for families with disabilities) as you walk into the main lobby.

Where do my kids go during the services?

Our children's ministry provides an exciting experience for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and grade schoolers through sixth grade. This allows you to get the most from your experience at Damascus Road while your child has a great time in a safe, friendly, kid-centered environment!

If you have a teenager, they are invited to attend the service with you. In addition, there are student ministries specifically for them. NxtGen Freestyle Youth Church for High Schoolers & Middle Schoolers meets every Sunday evening from 5-7:30 pm at Monocacy Valley Church in Ijamsville. During the school year, small groups meet on Wednesdays from 7 - 8:30pm, check the church calendar for locations.
