Paul Foss - Head Elder

Paul and his wife Jeannie live in Frederick and have been part of Damascus Road Community Church as one of the founding members. Paul has three sons and three daughters ranging from 17 to 30 years old. His is grandfather to Nicklas who was born on Paul’s birthday.

He is the founder of FAI Computers a computer consulting firm he started in 1980.

Paul has served as a Sunday school teacher at Damascus Road for over 20 years, been on several mission trips as part of the international mission focus at DRCC, was one of the founding elders, and is the leader of the men’s ministry, Waterboyz for Jesus. His spiritual gifts include leadership, teaching, discerning, and having fun.

Eric Closs

Eric and Wanda Closs have lived in the town of Mt. Airy for the past 18 years. They began attending Damascus Road Community Church in 2000. They have two teenage Children Sam and Haley.

Eric has served the community has a member and leader of the DRCC Board of Trustees. Eric has served on numerous committees and projects. Eric is currently a Table Leader and member of the Waterboyz for JESUS. He has served and participated in local mission projects. Eric is currently employed in the Computer Technology field.

Eric’s spiritual gifts include discernment, teaching, leadership and prayer.

Brian Deyaert

Brian Deyaert was born into a large family in a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where his walk with Christ began in Catholic Elementary and Middle School. Brian was baptized as a child and recommitted his life to Jesus Christ his senior year of high school as part of a Christian Youth Group. He met his wife Joni during the last year of engineering school at Michigan State University and they were married in 1991 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Midland, Michigan. Brian and Joni were active members of the New Hope Lutheran Church in Columbia, Maryland for 7 years, where they taught Children’s VBS and Confirmation. In 1994, they moved to Carroll County, where they began a family and attended LifePoint Church (formerly Carroll Community Church). In 2002, following a move to New Market, Brian, Joni, Olivia (daughter) and Alec (son) found their new church home at Damascus Road Community Church (DRCC).

For the past 8 years, Brian has taught in Children’s Ministry and been on three mission trips to Honduras. Brian continues to be a teacher in the BTweenz (4th – 6th Grades) and is active in leading Family Small Groups and a Waterboyz Table for Men’s Ministry. He also served DRCC as a member of the Board of Trustees for 8 years; where he was Chairperson for five of those years. God continues to call Brian to teach, be an active leader of his family, and serve the community of believers here at DRCC.

Blake Dunlevy

Blake has been a member of the Damascus Road Community church since 2009 After growing up involved in church, Blake set out to discover where his gifts could be best put to use to expand God’s kingdom. After spending some time visiting churches and seeking God’s direction, Blake chose DRCC to be his church home. Blake and his wife Kristen now live in Frederick with their young son Grant. He manages the family business providing quality landscape design, installation and construction services throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan area.

Blake has a passion for learning through life experiences, books, seminars and even casual conversations. He enjoys the richness of the many cultures found in our area and believes life is much sweeter when we serve the Lord together as one body made up of many members.

As the young adult ministry leader, Blake hopes to see this group expand numerically and in the grace and the knowledge of Christ.

Blake regularly serves at the Frederick Rescue Mission and volunteers with Little Lights Urban Ministries in S.E. Washington D.C. where he manages a vocational training program for young adults who have struggled to find meaningful employment.

Bea Gruber

Belinda (Bea) and Doug Gruber started attending Damascus Road Community Church in the summer of 2008. They have lived in New Market for almost ten years and are blessed with a large, blended family: Alex (30) married to Zheilad with Zoffia (6) and Andrea (born 10/11). Anna (28) married to Robert with Mia (3). Sean (21) attending the University of Maryland. Lydia (19) is attending West Virginia University. James (17) is a senior at Oakdale High School. Bea runs a chartered ministry center for pastoral counseling specializing in integrated marriage/family and individual therapy. She is ordained as a Minister of Pastoral Counseling and enjoys officiating weddings if she does the marriage preparation.

Bea is an active part of DRCC’s Women’s Ministry (Waterlilyz), where she serves as a trustee and table leader. Bea also serves with Doug on the DRCC Communion team. Bea is currently volunteering as a pastor during Tuesday breakfast at the Frederick Rescue Mission. Bea also enjoys being a part of DRCC’s Soul ministry serving an occasional meal to a family. She and Doug have led a small group (Living Stones) for six years now. She and Doug have led a divorce recovery ministry group every fall for the past ten years and have added Boundaries as another group for the last two years.

Bea has earned a Masters in Clinical Christian Counseling and is prayerfully considering a Doctorate degree within the next few years, God willing. Some of her spiritual gifts include teaching, knowledge and exhortation. She loves sharing their family home for a variety of ministry opportunities.

Amanda Morgan

Amanda & Tim Morgan have been active Damascus Road Community Church members since it’s inception. They have been blessed with the outstanding teaching and the Church’s commitment to lifting up the Cross and the Gospel of Christ. They reside in Damascus. They have a daughter, Crista who is married to Kurt Leonard and living in Frederick. They are enjoying Elaina Maria, grand-daughter who is 20 months old.

Amanda is currently serving in the following DRCC ministries: Communion, Human Capital Committee, Welcome Center, Alter Call, and DRCC Hiking Group. Amanda has previously served as Trustee and chair of the Human Capital Committee.

Amanda works in the Corporate Human Resources Office of Adventist HealthCare, Inc., as the Director of Occupational Health & Workers' Comp. She enjoys her work and uses this venue to minister to those she comes in contact with.

Amanda enjoys reading, cooking, gardening and going to the gym. She believes in the importance of living a balanced life and carving time to be in prayer, solitude and in the Word, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

She is looking forward to where God is taking her as she serves in the Elder ministry, trusting in His leading and provision to best help her respond to His calling.

Michelle Rader

Michelle and her husband Jerry live in Mount Airy and have been part of Damascus Road Community Church as one of the founding members. They have five children, ages 8 -20 – Jacqui, Monique, Gavin, Gillian and Gabrielle. Michelle and Jerry own Corridor Mortgage Group, a mortgage lending firm which they founded in 2000. Both were students of Dr. Fredericks in college, where Michelle majored in English and Religion. Since then, Michelle has worked in the financial services industry, overseeing human resources and regulatory areas for several companies.

Michelle homeschools her youngest three children, and teaches in the Classical Conversations homeschool community in Ellicott City, MD. Michelle and Jerry are also involved in various mission projects of DRCC, including Mission Honduras and Mission India. Michelle’s passions are reading and growing in knowledge in the areas of theology, spirituality, psychology, global development, business leadership, sustainable agriculture, education, and healthful living. Her hobbies are cooking, knitting, gardening, horse back riding, running, and triathlons. Michelle and Jerry share the spiritual gifts of giving and hospitality, as the Lord presents opportunities. Additionally, Michelle’s individual spiritual gifts are knowledge and wisdom.

Glynn Thompson

Glynn and his wife, Sandy, live in Damascus, MD. They were founding members of Damascus Road Community Church.

They have three children who are young adults – Mark, Shelly and Matthew.

Glynn is an Ob/Gyn Physician employed by Kaiser Permanente.

Presently an Elder and Mission Leader, he has also been a Small Group Leader and a Trustee. His main Spiritual gifts are teaching, leadership and knowledge. He enjoys participation in anointing services for healing of the sick.

Michael Yudt

Michael and Kelly Yudt started attending Damascus Road Community Church in the Fall of 2009. They reside in Frederick and are the proud parents of three boys: Caleb (4), Joshua (2), and Nathanael (born in February of this year). Michael is employed by the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) where he serves as the Director of Program Support Services. NFI is a non-profit organization that is focused on turning the hearts of fathers to their children.

Michael is an active part of DRCC’s Men’s Ministry (Waterboyz), where he serves as a table leader and is the lead coordinator for the annual Advance. Michael also serves as a lead teacher in Wild Kingdom and as a greeter at the Welcome Center. He and Kelly have volunteered together with Big Brothers Big Sisters since 2007, where they have mentored a boy from inner city Baltimore.

As part of his undergraduate work, Michael studied history and political theory for one semester at an Oxford University-affiliated program. Some of his spiritual gifts include teaching, discernment, and administration.
