What Can I Expect?
At the Sunday Services?
On Sunday morning when you pull into the parking lot and walk into the Damascus High School, you will be joining several hundred others who are making their way to the auditorium.
You’ll notice the dress is casual... plenty of jeans & shorts.
You’ll notice there are lots of little kids running around… (we have awesome kid’s programs!).
As you walk into the lobby greeters will be there to assist you with any questions you might have.
Children from 5th grade on down to newborns stay with their parents through the praise time and then are dismissed to the children’s ministry program during a break in the service or they can stay with you in the main auditorium… whatever is more comfortable for you & your family.
As you enter the auditorium you’ll notice a live band on the stage playing some very upbeat and contemporary sounding music.
You’ll notice the words to the songs will be projected on two giant side screens for people in the congregation to sing along with the band in expressing their heart to God.
After about 25 minutes of singing we speak to the congregation about special upcoming events. Sometimes there is a special drama, a song from the band, or a video clip and then the message time begins.
The pastor will teach from the Bible on the day’s topic. When its all done you pick up your kids and head home or stay for lunch at a nearby restaurant. With all the people around it is easy to just check things out and stay as anonymous as you would like.
Will I be singled out in any way as a visitor?
At Damascus Road, you'll never be put on the spot, never feel forced to give money, and never embarrassed. You won't be asked to participate in the offering. You don't have to sign anything or register your attendance in any way (unless you place your child in our children's ministry - and then only for your child's security). Let the service be a gift to you.
Where do my kids go during the services?
Our children's ministry, provides an exciting experience for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and grade schoolers through fifth grade. This allows you to get the most from your experience at Damascus Road while your child has a great time in a safe, friendly kid-centered environment!
If you have a teenager, they are invited to attend the service with you. In addition, there are student ministries specifically for them. NxtGen Freestyle Youth Church for High Schoolers & Middle Schoolers meets every Sunday evening from 5-7pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church. During the school year Alien Nation small groups meet on Wednesdays from 7 - 8:30pm, check the church calendar for locations.
