The team arrived safely on Sat, July 21. Travis Hearty plans to be baptized on Sunday. Mark Scuderi gave his testimony at the prison. They prayed over the man baptized in the prison in June. They spent a lot of time at the orphanage yesterday. They went swimming with the orphans in the orphange pool. They worked on the Family Correa home in Santa Barbara. They are traveling to Copan today. Everyone is healthy.

We have an update from our missionaries in Copan, Honduras. They want to thank everyone for their prayers. It has been a blessed trip.

Roger reports that the medical team has served nearly 1000 people this trip. The food team has fed hundreds of kids in four different schools. The construction team has finished building two houses, both for single moms (one of whom has six children to care for and the other mom has eight). All family boxes have been delivered, and the Las Mesas team has made great progress on the water project which will ultimately provide fresh water to close to 1000 people in that community.

One other fabulous event; Robin and Pat Nicholson celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on the trip, and Friday night the group surprised them with a taxi limousine ride to a 5 star hotel in Copan to celebrate this milestone in their lives. The group had tied cans to the taxi and decorated for the event. We pray God’s blessing over them.

Finally, last nite, (Saturday), the entire DRCC group joined with the members of our sister church in Copan and members of the communities to celebrate the fruits of their labor and to fellowship in Christ. The group can’t wait to come back and share pictures and stories with you, the DRCC church who have provided the means for them to go abroad to serve all nations and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Reports from the NxtGen Team

June 23 - July 3, 2007

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

The team arrived safely on Sat, June 23.  They arrived in Santa Barbara at about 5:30 pm.  All the electric in town was off for the first 36 hours. This is not uncommon in Honduras as a method for managing resources (both electric and water, which depends on electric for pumping). The team managed well and electric did come back on Monday morning.

They painted the cafeteria at the orphanage.  They restored a fallen wall at a local elementary school.  They did a prison ministry and witnessed one baptism.  They did three worships at the orphanage and had a good time playing with the orphans. The medical brigade went to the prison.

Some of the challenges they have faced include the heat, a clogged toilet, no electricity, and a little stomach trouble in some of the youth from eating coconuts cut with an unclean machete.  Despite the challenges, over all the team spirit is high.  They’ve had some great times of worship.  God has really met them on this trip so far.

Today, they are traveling to Copan. Keep them in prayer as they travel.
