Weekly Update from the Senior Pastor
September 26 , 2007
Dear Family and Friends,
Tonight at 6:45 the Elders, Staff and Trustees gather at Sandy and Glynn Thompson’s home for an hour of shared prayer. We will end by celebrating our security in Jesus Christ through the Lord’s Supper.
The real theme of this evening and these next forty-days is God’s call for us to first be, what we then build structurally—that our new facility, shining as a Light on a Hill, mirrors our shared lives as a community+:
You are…members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus as the chief cornerstone. In Him, the whole building is joined together [in prayer] and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord [our goal over the next forty days]. And in Him you too are being built together to become a holy dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.
Such a congregation will know how to follow where God is leading.
Such a congregation will be lead by God.
Today begins our 40-days of prayer journey together as a congregation.
As often as you can, whether in solitude with the risen Lord, with friends or family, stop by the land for a season of prayer at the Cross. Wherever we carve out space for prayer (please do daily), let’s all unite in making the prayer of Ephesians 3:14-21 our prayer. Ask God, by the grace of Jesus Christ, to do His work in us in this 40-day stretch, so we will do the next right thing. By prayer, humility before God, fasting and trust, we create the environment for this great prayer to be fulfilled:
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church [ours] and in Christ Jesus in every [our] generation, forever and ever! Amen.
Updates:
After church, this Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., at the home of Don and Kristen Travers (directions will be in our Bulletin) we celebrate six baptisms into Christ. Join us and remember the day you committed your life fully to the Lord Jesus Christ because He first committed His to you.
Next Sunday, October 7, we will finish our worship service a few minutes early and invite all who can stay for a congregational Q & A on finances, timeline and options we have concerning our new facility. Come with your questions and we will provide clear answers.
With a God who can do more than we ask or imagine, and a congregation taking Jesus’ advice: “always pray, never give up,” this is going to be 40 days filled with divine appointments. Stay tuned!
