Meet Our Team
I am a redeemed sinner, husband to Erika, father to four lovely and remarkable daughters, pastor, and author of several books and articles. My journey started at a church founded by Canadian missionaries in India where I served for five years after finishing my undergrad studies. I completed my graduate studies in a theology-based management program at Eastern University in St. Davids, PA and am currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry from Ashland Theological Seminary.
I have been in ministry for over twenty years (with a five-year gap in the middle where I served in the corporate world). I have a passion for preaching the Word to call people to a life-long quest to follow the Crucified Carpenter of Nazareth in every aspect of our lives and in every domain of our world, where we rise above the mundane, the routine, the buzz of daily life and catch a glimpse of what God is up to in this day, this hour, and this moment. And then enthusiastically join in! Apart from my work and ministry, I love spending time with my wife, daughters, reading, writing and traveling (and I can also cook some mean pasta dishes!).
I am a sinner saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. I have the privilege of being married to Charlene, my bride of over 10 years. God has blessed us with four incredible kids: Sebastian, Luca, Oliver, and Chloe Grace. Being a pastor was the last thing that I thought I would be, but God has mysterious ways of leading us down the path that he desires for us, and now I see that being a pastor is the best way I can love people and serve the church.
I’ve had the privilege of serving people in pastoral roles for over 10 years, and my desire is to raise leaders who raise leaders, to equip everyone God places before me to do the work that God has called them to do, and through teaching to encourage, challenge and inspire all of us to live the life that God has called us to live in Christ.
My educational background includes an M.A. in Theology from Talbot School of Theology (Biola University), and a B.A. in Religious Studies with a minor in Psychology from Regent University. I love music, art, creative writing, reading (my wife would say I have a book addiction), history, nature, a great cup of coffee, great conversations, and last but not least, food.
I've spent over ten years leading large teams at Vanguard, one of the nation’s largest investment managers. My family and I felt God’s call to full-time vocational ministry and moved from Pennsylvania to join DRCC in the summer of 2017. I am married to Stephanie and have two children, Caleb and Hannah.
I have received my undergraduate degrees from Cairn University in Biblical Studies and Business Administration and received a Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Penn State University. In my spare time, you’ll find me at the gym, enjoying the beautiful Maryland outdoors, reading a good leadership book or watching Philadelphia sports teams (Go Eagles!).
My family and I are thrilled to be part of this authentic, caring, fun, others-focused community of Light!

Adult Pathway Pastor
I am a broken sinner saved by the grace of God alone through the work of Christ alone—and that still amazes me every day. I also got to be the Senior and founding Pastor of Damascus Road Community Church, which Sallie and I began as a Bible Study in a basement in 1988. In November of 2019, I transitioned into the role of Adult Pathway Pastor as Rajendra Pillai stepped into my former position - all part of DRCC's 2020 Vision plan.
An Associate Professor of Theology for eight years prior to this, my education includes a Ph.D. in New Testament studies, an M.A. in Religion and a B.A. in Psychology—plus a ton of lessons learned the hard way!
Along with the beauty of the Gospel, I am most stunned by my good fortune in landing Sallie, my wife of four decades and the mother of our children: Matthew (a pastor)— married to Jolene, Luke (a defense attorney)—married to Tiffany, and Natasha (a theologian)—married to Chris.
Beyond our family and this congregation, my other loves are history books, leading Israel “Footsteps of Jesus” pilgrimages, and traveling the world…especially Italy. Ciao!
