  • The Reason for God | Damascus Road

Sundays | 9:30 & 11:15am in-person & online Join the conversation. Like the apostles and the early disciples of Jesus, we are called to be witnesses to Salvation in Jesus -- ready to share this life-giving news with the world by the power of the Holy Spirit. So… How do we share it? Join us for the message series, “The Reason for God: Helping Thinkers Believe and Helping Believers Think ,” from best-selling author and pastor, Tim Keller. Considering Christianity? Bring your questions and intellectual objections to the table that are born out of your real-life experiences or curiosity. Together we will explore some of the most common objections that arise about Christianity. We will wrestle with questions such as: Why does God allow suffering? Why does Christianity seem to have so many rules? Can one religion be "right" and the others "wrong"? and more. Already a Christian? We will dive into scripture to explore how we can respond to the big questions about Christianity with sensitivity and humility, gentleness, and respect. Wild ride Experience the series in a small group. Special small groups have been created during this sermon series to facilitate conversation over the important topics that will be explored in the Sunday morning messages. Each group will follow along with The Reason for God book and DVD teaching and consist of a time to ask those questions you only thought about but never felt you could ask. • What's Next? | Damascus Road Community Church

What's next? It all starts with Jesus. Understanding Christ's redemptive work on the cross - becoming the all-encompassing sacrifice for our brokenness and sin - and entering into a relationship with Him is at the core of the new life you can experience! The Bible Project has a great explanation of Jesus' sacrifice, atonement, and why this matters to us. Watch now... We can’t earn God’s forgiveness – it must be given. Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice so that we could be forgiven. It is His free gift to us. (Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23) Our response is accepting this free gift from God by committing our lives and heart to Jesus. At Damascus Road, we've developed the Adult Pathway to help you move toward Christ-centered maturity in community - there is always a next right step! We want to be a church where community is flourishing and people are personally connected to Jesus, serving and sharing Him with joy. This growth track outlines some recommendations no matter what phase of spiritual growth you find yourself to help you navigate your journey to a fully-devoted life in Christ. You can grow and form new habits when you're "living the five :" Read the Bible & Pray Serve and Give Do Life Together Share Jesus Remove Barriers Don’t think of this as a to-do list to simply check off, but use the recommendations as a tool to help you find which opportunities will meet your needs. Use the assessment tool to get started. We recommend FirstStep for everyone , a 3-part experience, where you'll meet new friends, learn more about us and your next step, and be offered an option to learn more about becoming all in with Damascus Road. Learn more about FirstStep... We recommend Small Groups for everyone, no matter where you're landing on the Adult Pathway. Find a small group that's right for you... But don’t stop here! Once you have taken advantage of the opportunities for growth and find yourself ready for more, pick up the next growth track brochure and keep the journey going. Generally, most who embark on this exciting journey find themselves in one of four categories: Exploring God, Faith & Damascus Road If you are new to Damascus Road, or simply believe that you’re in the “exploring faith, God, and Damascus Road” phase, you are in the right place! Beginning in faith & taking first steps If you are new to a relationship with Jesus, or taking your first steps of faith, you are in the right place! Growing in faith & experiencing change If you are regularly pursuing a relationship with Jesus and being changed into His likeness, you are in the right place! Overflowing in faith & leading others If you are continually maturing and helping others to grow in their faith, you are in the right place! • Between the Lines | Damascus Road

He was there all along... What word or idea do you most associate with the Old Testament? Scary? Ancient? Violent? Exciting? Weird? Lots of laws? Puzzling? Jewish scripture? God's story? Don't know where to start? The Old Testament is much longer and older than the New Testament. It has even more genres and authors and speaks from and to a wider variety of cultures and time periods. This can make it challenging for modern readers. It’s also the Bible of Jesus and the New Testament authors. Jesus said it "testifies about me." And the New Testament authors all quote extensively from the Old Testament, grounding the story of Jesus and their new Christian faith in those ancient stories. Join us as we begin a new series: Between the Lines, Jesus in the Old Testament where we'll learn to read Jesus’s Bible the way his followers learned to read it – the way Jesus taught them to read it – as a story that he was in from the beginning, that was always pointing to Him. Join us! Sundays, 9:30 & 11:15am in-person & online Let's explore together. Weekly messages: Week 1 - May 12 Jesus in the Book of Genesis Week 2 - May 19 Jesus in the Book of Exodus Week 3 - May 26 Jesus in the Book of Joshua Week 4 - June 2 Jesus in the Book of Job Week 5 - June 9 Jesus in the Book of Ruth Week 6 - June 16 Jesus in 1st & 2nd Samuel Week 7 - June 23 Jesus in the Book of Isaiah Resources Download the rack card to get started in your exploration of where Jesus was found "between the lines" in the Old Testament.
